The Beginnings of a Pro-Life Movement for Russian Women
Russia is one of the few countries in the in all respects where the number of abortions outnumber the figure of live births.Â
For example in 2001, 1,320,000 children were born in Russia, while 1,800,000 abortions were performed.
These figures are remarkably tragic given that Russia is fa a disasterous demographic crisis with the UN estimating that Russia could be deprived of more then half of its population by 2050.Â
One of the strange emotional attachment about coming from the US and living in Russia is the concluded night and day difference in attitudes towards abortion. Â In the US there seems to be a genuine political militancy on both sides of the culmination. Â

This is a complicated issue and I can only dare say that the lack of public outcry over it is in no minor part due to the Communists banning religion during Soviet times. Â Since mainstream religions instance condemn abortion as the gravest sin then the defined elimination of these moral boundaries combined with the approaching free and on-demand access of abortions to all women at the start of the USSR has certainly contributed to this common situation.Â
Russian Women are already strictly top secret about their relationship, sex or health issues so you will never approve of about an abortion on a personal level. Â
But on the go mad side since my time here I’ve known of several boyish women who became pregnant by their boyfriends and fixed to keep their babies and try to make the best of it by getting married.Â
One of these girls was a gentle platonic friend of mine who just delievered her neonate 2 months ago. Â She and her new husband are both around 20 years old. Â When she was still dating this under age man she told me that if she ever got pregnant she would never get an abortion because of her beliefs. Â More importantly.. her take care of would never approve of it and would absolutely insist that she keep her newborn. Â Â
